Immersive Media – Texas A&M University

This was our first shoot working with Immersive Media, a Portland based company that has developed a 360 degree camera. Its basically 11 cameras mounted in a cylindrical orb. All 11 streams are fed into a backpack mounted, (or tripod mounted, car, etc), hard drive unit. Editors then “stitch” the streams together into a seamless virtual reality 360 degree shot. Pretty amazing stuff.

I was at the A&M/Tech game and was wondering what the footage will be used for? This page is the only information I could find so far. I’d love to see the results.

This looks like something they used for Google Street View. Sounds like an amazing application of the camera, though, to shoot campuses. Awesome!
